'09 QX56 thermostat replacement

Planning to replace my 2009 qx56's thermostat but when i look online they usually only offer the traditional flat style gasket and im pretty unsure where it fits. i'm a bit confused as i think the rubber seal around the thermostats edges seals the housing cover when and only when its installed correctly. can anyone confirm this please? also, my mind is blowing regarding the torque specifications for the 3 bolts thats supposed to secure the thermostat housing and thinking if the orientation of the bleed valve matters during the process of installation.

hi there! i looked this up and found that throttle body bolts is 74 in-lbs. intake bolts is 73 in. i will be using those settings. hope this helps .

yeah you're right, the rubber seal around the thermostat usually does the sealing, but some replacement thermostats come with an extra flat gasket, which might be for an alternate application or just an extra sealing measure. If your old one didn't have it, you probably don't need it. As for torque specs, I don't have the exact number off the top of my head, but it's usually pretty low, like 7-9 ft-lbs. Just snug it evenly and don't overtighten. And yeah, the bleed valve orientation matters, it should be at the highest point to let air escape properly when filling the system.

Pretty much @Ocean.eyes here already got most of your questions, but then again for the torque spec it should be 6.5 ft-lbs. Be really gentle so you won't crack the housing.
