2020 Nissan Infiniti QX80 HIIRC

My dad's got this 2020 Nissan Infiniti QX80, and he's scratching his head bcs the hydraulic integrated interconnected regenerative suspension or HIIRC, seems to be integrated into the shocks. He's trying to figure out if it's worth taking it to the dealer for this.

So, he thinks the self leveling system is built right into the shocks on his QX80. He understands it keeps the truck level, but he's wondering if that system actually messes with how the shocks work or their overall function.

His QX80 is almost at 160,000 miles, and he's pretty sure this leveling system has never been serviced. He's heard it might need regular service, but isn't sure.

He's thinking, is it worth paying the dealer like $900 just to change the oil in that system and reset the pressure to try and improve the ride quality? Honestly, I told him to just bring the car to the dealer to avoid the stress, bcs he's a 70yo, you know

Does it actually make a difference, especially since it's got so many miles on it? Any advice would be great!

At 160k miles and no service on that system, its probably due. The self leveling and ride comfort are tied into those hydraulic shocks, so old fluid or low pressure can definitely mess with how it rides. The $900 dealer service isnt cheap, but if it includes a fluid change and pressure reset, it could actually help a lot. Given the mileage and how complex the system is, it's probably worth it. And honestly, having the dealer handle it might save your dad a lot of hassle.

Look servicing the HIIRC system is good maintenance, but don't expect a miracle ride because if the shocks are worn, they'll still feel soft or floaty. Dealer service is safest, especially given the age and complexity, but realistically, replacing the shocks might be the only way to really improve ride quality.
