Delay in acceleration

So this happened when I was trying to get into a lane with other cars. Was going around 30 mph and pressed the gas pretty hard. I was hoping for a quick boost but it didn't respond. No power kick and I think I actually slowed down a little instead. Like a full 5-6 sec delay before it finally responded. Has this happened to anyone here? Is this normal?

That's actually a pretty common issue!
The Armada has a known throttle lag, especially when you floor it from a lower speed.
It's the fly-by-wire system and transmission computer trying to figure out what you want.
I know a few guys who got a pedal commander or a similar throttle response controller to fix it.
It doesn't add horsepower, but it tricks the computer into responding faster.

yep, agree with @f.n8ty it's a common issue. been there with that exact feeling in my Armada!
That hesitation is a known characteristic of these big V8s paired with their transmissions and the electronic throttle by wire system.
The computer sometimes prioritizes fuel economy over instant response. Some ppl say a transmission fluid change (if it's due) can slightly help, or sometimes there are software updates for the transmission control module that can improve it a bit. But a full 5-6 second delay is pretty significant
